Thirteenth Columbia flight. The Laser Geodynamics Satelite (LAGEOS) is a cooperative mission of the U. S. and Italy to obtain precise measurements of the crustal movement and gravitational field. The U. S. Microgravity Payload-2 (USMP-2), carried in the cargo bay, is one in a series of payloads for scientific experimentation and material processing in a reduced gravity. Landed November 1, 1992 at Kennedy Space Center, FL. Mission Duration: 236 hours 56 minutes 13 seconds.
