The Ministry of Aerospace Industry is the predecessor agency in the People's Republic of China which was responsible for its national space program. The China Ministry of Aerospace Industry was founded on July 5, 1988. This ministry was split into the China National Space Administration and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation in July 1999 as a part of government reforms and modernization efforts.
